NEW YORK — The New York Giants and New Orleans Pelicans were among the teams to sign free agents Tuesday.
Here are the latest on the Saints and Jets’ moves:New York GiantsSigning of free agent WR Andre WilliamsThe New York Post reports that free agent receiver Andre Williams has signed a one-year contract with the Giants, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
Williams spent last season with the Jacksonville Jaguars and is now headed to the Giants.
New York will likely pay him roughly $3 million.
The Giants will be looking for help at receiver, but will also be hoping to add more depth to the roster.
New Orleans SaintsSigning OF Brian De La PuenteBrian De La Rosa, the Saints’ first-round draft pick in 2016, signed a four-year, $18 million deal with the Saints.
The contract contains a $1 million signing bonus, which is $4 million less than De La Rivera’s deal with New Orleans.
The Saints’ salary cap situation is a little better than that of the Jets.
They are projected to have $51.6 million under the salary cap, which has them projected to spend $57 million on free agents this offseason.
The Jets are projected at $71.6M under the cap, but are expected to be able to add a few players to the team.
New York is likely to add some depth to its roster this offseason, and is one of the teams likely to be looking to add to its depth at receiver.
The New Orleans offense is one to watch.
Coach Sean Payton has had a strong year, leading the Jets to an NFC East title and a wild-card berth.
De La Cruz and Williams could be the pieces to help New Orleans become a more complete team this season.
The NFL Draft is set for May 10-11 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
